Time is running out on 2009. It will soon be over, as will this decade. This post will be the last one of the year. And what it year it has been. One I won’t forget anytime soon. In 2009 the first Black American became President and then he proceeded to renege on most of his campaign promises. He was elected to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but instead he sent more troops to Afghanistan. He promised to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” but he has done nothing but continue the hate and discrimination against our GLBT brothers and sisters. He promised to make changes, monumental change, but where are these changes? All we see is the continued policies of the previous administration. Policies that dismantled checks and balances in our government. Policies that weakened our social, educational, and medical safeguards. Policies that put our country in a finical cesspool that will take years to recover from, if we can. Needless to say, 2009 is the year that I lost all faith in the Democratic Party and our elected officials. It’s like the old adage says, “Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.”
I’m hopeful that 2010 will bring us all good things. Let’s see how long that hope lasts.

There may be a new 27″ iMac in my future. It all depends upon what I get for Chanukah this year. Come-on Chanukah Harry, bring me a new iMac.

I’ve fallen behind on my monthly Evan Wadle picture. Here is this month’s offering.

Fortune Magazine has named Steve Jobs of Apple the CEO of the Decade. It’s quite an interesting article and you can read it here. In part they say, “How’s this for a gripping corporate story line: Youthful founder gets booted from his company in the 1980s, returns in the 1990s, and in the following decade survives two brushes with death, one securities-law scandal, an also-ran product lineup, and his own often unpleasant demeanor to become the dominant personality in four distinct industries, a billionaire many times over, and CEO of the most valuable company in Silicon Valley.”
Just on that quote alone he deserves the honor, and the respect, but to a lot of us Apple fanboys he’ll still just be Steve. Enough said.

Men, I can’t understand them. I love them, but I just can’t figure them out. For most of my adult life I’ve been an out gay man and I’ve been very fortunate to have had some wonderful men in my life, but I’ve never been able to figure out how to keep one around. Men are fickle, like chaff in the wind we take flight in the lightest of turbulence. So willing to move on and too willing to abandon what is for what might be. The grass is always greener…

It’s time for a new look at The Lee Word Side. What with fall squarely upon us I though that something a little rusty and dark was called for. I’m hopeful that the new look will entice me to start posting a little more often than I’ve been doing of late.
I’ve always like dark colored themes but finding one that didn’t require too much tweaking has been a challenge. One of the nice advantages of having a WordPress blog is that there are hundreds of available themes that can be used to change the look your blog. The trick is to find a theme that satisfies most of your requirement, then make the necessary changes that will make it your own.
I hope you like the new fall look.

Ya didn’t think I’d let the US Open pass by without at least one post about it, did ya? And what better way to celebrate this grand event than with a picture of one of the HOTEST men in tennis, Rafa Nadal. He’s back, he’s playing well, and he’s ready to take back the world’s number one ranking. Enjoy!

I’m aware that’s it’s been well over a month since I’ve posted anything. To say that I’m a bit ambivalent about the blog isn’t too far off the mark. I can’t say that I’ve been too busy to post, nor can I say that I’ve nothing to post about, I guess it just comes down to motivation and desire. While a lot of the reasons that I started The Lee Word Side are still valid, I’m unsure if I have the fortitude to carry it on any further. I do know that I can’t let the blog just drift off into oblivion, posting only enough to keep it on life support. I’ve either got to pull the plug, or get it back on it’s feet and back in the race.

More to come

Here is the newest addition to my collection of “Hot Men,” Jay Brannan. Not only is Jay very sexy, but he is also a fantastic musical artist. His latest CD, In Living Cover, has been filling my ears with some beautiful sounds. Some of you might recognize Jay from the big screen. He was in Shortbus, and Holding Trevor. I would encourage everyone to get Jay’s new CD. You won’t be disappointed. What more could anyone want, cute, talented, and gay.
